AI in the HR department

Whether employees ask about their remaining vacation days or management asks about turnover, HR usually needs data from several systems to answer. How reliably AI can help with this therefore depends above all on the quality of that data.

Data and requests in HR

  1. 01

    Master data in several systems

In many companies, employee master data is spread across the HR system, payroll, time tracking and Active Directory. Gaps and duplicates therefore often become apparent only when data from several of these systems is combined for a report.

  2. 02

    Recurring requests

Questions about vacation or pay reach HR as tickets or emails. The answer is often already written down in a policy or stored in the HR system.

  3. 03

    Manual reporting

When management asks about headcount or turnover, HR often compiles the figures by hand from several exports.

Approach

Four use cases from HR work

Since most of the following applications draw on the master data in your HR systems, we usually begin by reviewing that data.

  1. 01

    HR data quality

The AI checks master data across all connected systems and finds missing, duplicate or conflicting entries.

The share of complete and consistent records before and after the project shows how much data quality has improved.

  2. 02

    Answers for employees

A chatbot answers employees' routine questions about vacation, pay, benefits and internal policies.

The chatbot can only answer what is documented in your policies and HR systems, so it depends on up-to-date documents.

  3. 03

    HR analytics

An analytics agent answers questions about your HR data asked in natural language, for example about turnover in a particular division.

  4. 04

    Skills-based workforce planning

The AI extracts skills from CVs, employee profiles and project history and brings them together in a central skills inventory.

Under the German Works Constitution Act, AI systems that work with employee data are usually subject to co-determination. If your company has a works council, we therefore involve it from the start. The project also needs access to the HR systems involved and a contact person in HR who can answer questions about the data.
